Mentor Review 1

For my first mentor review, I spoke with Daniel Rankin, ATLAS faculty and design extravaganza. I consulted him specifically on the design of my box’s unique hinge design. He suggested that I look into pre-made designs that exist.

I was completely unaware of hinges like those he recommended to me.

His critique of my design was that it could be weak at the pivots, especially given that it can move on multiple axis. Additionally, he voiced concern over whether people would close it properly when operating my design.

He sketched up some designs to provide an example of what he was thinking of.

And finally he directed me to some hinges offered through home depot to consider using in my design.

My meeting with Danny provided some much needed critique on my door, which I was still skeptical over. I think this new information will push my designs in a much more productive direction.
