For week 7 I initially wanted to do the exterior of the box. Unfortunately my contacts of getting metal cheaply are not responding. However, I pivoted and instead chose to work on the door and interior of the box. I also got some conversations going for solving my IT problems
Door Construction

To start off, I got more materials and took stock of what I had on hand. I happened to have some left over particle board and Masonite, so utilized them.
Using my CAD model from the previous week, I made some basic sketches to assist my cutting and assembly. I needed to get the door thickness to be 1.25 inches, so I used two pieces of particle board 1/2 inch thick each, and 2 pieces of masonite, 1/8 inch thick each. I sandwiched them with glue and screwed them together to hold them while the glue dried.

After the baseplate was finished, I took some wood to the ATLAS lab to cut with more precise tools. I needed to rip a 2×4 with the grain and a table saw is much more effective for that. I ripped it so that its new dimensions were 2×1.75.

I next outlined where I needed the holes to go for the lock cylinders.

I then used the drill press to put some 1 inch diameter holes centered at 1.75 inches from the ends. I lined them out so the edge of the holes would be inline with the edge of the wood itself.

Once that was finished, I applied glue to it at home and screwed it to my door piece
Interior
Finally, I cut up some pieces of my masonite to use as interior panels. I crafted a top and bottom, and will create sides and a back panel at a later date.
These were made by cutting squares and taking out corners until they fit in line with the boarded corners.
Time Management
Admittedly, I have been struggling to commit to my work the past 2 weeks. However, I feel much more motivated now and plan to really attack the project over the next few week. I would like to be finished and deployed by mid March.
